one more week done, the first whole week in this project.

This week I have basically only focused on working with the project plan
for my group. It has been funny and good learning for me.

Today at twelve I sent it to our friends in Karlskrona who were about to
peermarke it, a peermarking is a way to give feedback.
I have just recieved the peermarking and it was really good, they
complained about the things we were aware of so that feels is ok.

We also had our so called feedback friday today, sorry to say that
Axel missed the first one but we didnt talked that much anyway since we
had a meeting about it yesterday.

This week has overall been really good, we have a good group with great structure
and communication which I missed a bit in my latest group.

The last thing I wanna say is "Thank god its friday", now Im going home to relax and not sit infront of the
computer, oh well maybee a bit.

The code is crackt!!

The truth is told, the clouds are gone, the sun shines again, the mothership is home, the cash is in my hands, the party is on!!
Two days of siting above an adruino mistery made me think that it has become hard times for humanity when it has to understand the rules of the technological world and face the computer dominance. In order to strike back and fight this chip
empire one has to understand how a chip works, thinks and breeds.
Arduino board is a hardware that makes your computer control physical actions and make things to things. To be able to
make arduino do as you wish, you have to conect all the components like lamps and resistors correctly and on the other side
write java codes that would run things. This is possible only if you are familiar with how electric circles work plus
understanding of javascript is more than welcome. GUess how does it feel when somebodey without any of these abilities
gets a clue how everything works!? A moment that made two days of grups hard work a sudden progress

Still there are important things that are not mentioned in this monolog, that involve respect, love and understanding, so let me end it by quoting Martin Luther King
"We've learned to fly the sky like birds, we've learnd to swim the seas like fish
but yet we haven't learnd to walk the earth like brothers and sisters."

Where the fuck did the red wire go?

Spending some time with the light sensor yesterday it wouldn’t work out as we wanted. This could be explained by one of the following reasons:
1. The aurdino version we use is not equal to the version used in the tutorial.
2. The setup was arranged wrong
3. The code we entered is not equal to the script in the tutorials
4. The wrong serial port was used.

I’m not sure of how long this list really is, whatever the right solution/the problem is we are not capable to figure it out. The intuitive thought is to smash the arduino board and tell it to fuck off witch probably want work either cause that will include to establish a connection to the arduino that we do not have.

I will try to sublime my frustration with this poem I wrote:

Wire Mess Cage

Little arduino, hidden from me,
In a place that I cant see,
I cannot touch, smell, or taste
Your delicate fronds, blow in haste

To be free
And near me
In my wire mesh cage.

You wire is black and red
Enough is said
If I manage you to work
You glow in the rain
You keep me barely sane
In my wire mess monsterbox cage

Tuesday at Hyper Island

Today we had two meetings,
the first one was with Johan Halse from Doberman.
The meeting with Johan was really good and the meaning of it was to see so we were in the right direction.

After the meeting with Johan we had one ourselves, the purpose was to get hold of the project plan. Patric took the responsability for the plan and we all sat down and talked about the content in it.

Tomorrow we will keep on working with the prototype and maybee the first draft of the project plan will be ready.

best regards,

words from niklas on monday afternoon

Hey!

today monday we started our day with a lecture about user experience with simon käll.
The topics was how to make homepages userfriendly and it was very intressting to listen to.
we also got a grouptask about how to make a apartment site userfriendly and the apartments in the house more tech. me and our group choose to make a computer in the home there you could rent cars and bicycles from the house and how to make neighbours more un anonymous.

after the lecture we got our main task parts to make our sound and light device.

the parts we got was :
IN SWEDISH

1 one battery holder and battery
2 fotomotstånd
3 2 st lysdioder en grön o en blå
4 one ardino chip
5 one breadboard

and with all that we are gonna make something fun with all things.

we took an half hour to google about the ardino chip and tryed to install it on axels computer but finally had to but the installprogram on nemos after it crashed on axels.

so now everybody is trying to make something fun with the chip and trying to get an idea to make something cool..

and as usually its not the writer that is on the picture!

Day one of the new project :

New groups, new assignments, new challanges. We all look forward to it, but to start with, who are we? Why this new blog and what is the fuzz about "sound and lights" ?

To start with, we are students at the school Hyper Island(www.hyperisland.se), located at Telefonplan in Stockholm Sweden. We have created this blog because we are about to start a whole new project. A project in the category "Experience and technology".

So what is the fuzz about "sound and lights"?
Our class have been divided into nine smaller groups which we will work in this three week long project. Each group got a subject, there was five differente subjects:
-Sound and Lights
-Touch
-Video
-Motion
-Mix

Our group, which consist of Niklas Andersson, Axel Widén, Nemo Curcic, Patric Sundling and Martin Brolin, got the subject "sound and lights". We all felt very excited about this and immediatly had a meeting where we started brainstorming about ideas and feelings around this whole project. We also had a first deadline, to create a blog and a first post in the blog.
This new blog is a place where we can write down our thoughts about the project, a tool which we can use to look back and see the process that we are making in the project.
It will also be a good tool which we can use to show people the things that are happening each day.

Well no, since this is the first post about a whole new project there ain't some much more to say.
Keep updated since new things will happen everyday and we hope you'll be enjoying reading this blog for a couple of weeks.

best,
